On October 27, the Chamber of Deputies approved the bill that seeks to establish the Statute of the Person with Cancer with the aim of establishing equal conditions for access to treatment. The initiative now passes to the Executive Branch for its enactment. We will send you the final wording of the proposal as soon as it is available. The bill seeks to establish the essential principles and objectives for the protection of the rights of people with cancer and for the application of public policies for the prevention and fight against cancer. The principles include universal and equal access to adequate treatment, the encouragement of awareness, education and family support, the expansion of the network of services and infrastructure, and the sustainability of treatments, among others.

It should be noted that the initiative had been approved by the Chamber of Deputies in the first instance, then the Senate made modifications to the text, which have been ratified today by the Chamber of Deputies. Among the modifications made by the Senate, the following stand out: the inclusion of priority home treatment and the right to the presence of a companion during treatment, among others.
