SMV Publishes 2020 Regulatory Agenda

On February 14, the Stock Market Superintendency published the regulatory agenda it intends to follow in 2020. The SMV’s aim is to present the projects it wants to achieve during the year and the initiatives and rules pending validation by the Regulatory Quality Analysis Commission. The projects include proposals to regulate collective financing platforms and a mechanism to encourage shareholder participation in the Stock Market. At the moment, experts are studying the possibility of implementing voting by proxy, a mechanism designed to allow shareholders to delegate their representation to other shareholders.

Another proposal concerns the modification of the electronic prospectus in order to encourage the use of electronic formats. They are also looking at setting a system to register short-term instruments, corporate bonds and leasing bonds, using e-prospectuses.

The SMV has set up an electronic box In order to analyze the regulatory agenda and receive comments and recommendations from individuals and entities interested in participating.
