IFT enacts amendments on antitrust investigations and extends deadline for incorporation of new digital procedures
16 noviembre 2021

MEXICO

On November 16, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT in Spanish) enacted, through the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF in Spanish), the agreement that establishes the Guidelines to digitize procedures and proceedings before the Investigating Authority (IA) of the IFT, including those of monopolistic practices. This text will enter into force on November 16, 2022. At the same time, the IFT enacted  an agreement extending the deadlines by the entity for the incorporation of digital services to its Electronic Window. The text will become effective tomorrow.

The first text proposes to conduct electronically the processing of complaints about monopolistic practices and unlawful concentrations or investigations about barriers to competition in the telecommunications and broadcasting sector. It also establishes that economic agents must register in an Electronic System, have an advanced electronic signature and provide a valid e-mail address for registration.

On the other hand, the second text extends for two years the term foreseen for the IFT to incorporate the procedures and services that use electronic means for their presentation, management and resolution, to its Electronic Window.
