Executive branch extends state of emergency
Venezuela
12 junio 2020
On June 12, the Executive branch extended the nationwide State of Alarm for another 30 days, to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on the population and on the economy. The measure is to be in effect until July 12 but could be further extended if deemed necessary by the Executive branch.
This is the third extension declared by Maduro. However, it is worth mentioning that the government has been implementing a plan to reopen the economy since last week, through which various sectors have been able to gradually resume their activities, such as the banking and construction sectors.
