On January 14, the Ministry of Health approved a Model Framework Agreement that determines the conditions of adhesion, cooperation and collaboration for the development of joint actions between the Special Drugs Bank and the provinces. According to the rationale of the measure, the objective pursued “is to reduce cancer incidence and mortality, improve the quality of life of oncology patients and universalize the rational use of and access to strategic drugs and health supplies”. The agreement will be in force for two years.

The agreement includes a commitment on the part of the Nation to collaborate with the provinces through the supply of drugs, to periodically update the list of drugs included in the Special Drugs Bank and to assist in the training of health human resources on the objectives and computer systems used by the Bank. It should be recalled that the Drug Formulary was recently approved by Ministerial Resolution 29/22.

Finally, the Ministry informed that “for the effective implementation of this strategy, the acquisition of medicines for a total of 1,834 million pesos is underway and the service for the distribution of medicines to the destination establishments in each province is already operational, reaching a universe of around 5,500 patients with exclusive public coverage who are treated in public hospitals”.
