Central Bank Announces Increased Monitoring of Financial Markets
24 julio 2020

On July 23, the Central Bank of Chile (CBC, for its acronym in Spanish) issued a statement announcing its intention to intensify financial market monitoring. The idea is to adopt, if necessary, the measures required to mitigate any eventual disruptions jeopardizing financial stability.

This announcement has come about because the Bank observed movements in the local currency and fixed income markets over recent days, motivated by expectations of significant adjustments in pension fund portfolios.

Additionally, together with the financial supervisors, the Central Bank is considering alternative measures to increase liquidity in the open fixed income market, with the aim of mitigating the effects of portfolio changes involving these assets.
