SHCP issues public consultation on the imposition of penalties on financial institutions

On March 7, the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP in Spanish), through the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (CONAMER in Spanish), opened a public consultation regarding the imposition of sanctions by the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV in Spanish) on financial entities. The draft bill establishes which is the total amount that the infractions committed by private parties have to be, so that the president and vice-president of the entity have the power to impose the corresponding administrative sanctions. The consultation will remain open until at least March 27 approximately and interested parties may send their comments through the following link

The draft bill specifies that the president and vice-president of the CNBV will have the power to impose sanctions on financial entities when the total fines imposed for infractions committed total up to US$ 1,216,036. It also indicates that the General Director of Crimes and Sanctions will be the one to impose them when this amount is up to $810,691 dollars.
