On March 4, the Ministry of Health published the opening of a public consultation regarding the regulation on nuclear medicine. This proposal will be under public consultation for 30 calendar days, between March 4, 2022 and April 2, 2022. Comments should be sent to [email protected]. The proposal understands Nuclear Medicine services as those that use radiopharmaceuticals as radiotracers, to evaluate body functions, diagnose and treat diseases. For this purpose, equipment specially designed for diagnosis and treatment is used to identify the distribution of these radiopharmaceuticals at the molecular and anatomical level.

It also indicates that Nuclear Medicine services can be provided in the following ways:

• Diagnostic: This refers to the obtaining of molecular and anatomical images, as well as the quantification of radioactivity, through the use of radiopharmaceuticals:
• Quantification of radioactivity: Determination of the number of disintegrations per unit of time of a radioactive element.
• Multidimensional studies: Kintigraphic images, to obtain representations in two or more dimensions, being able to incorporate the time factor.
• Hybrid studies: Molecular and anatomical images obtained with the same equipment consecutively in a single procedure.
• Therapeutics: Procedures for the treatment of various conditions and pathologies, using radiopharmaceuticals by different routes of administration.
