MinCit launches public consultation on the project to modify customs tariffs
10 noviembre 2021

COLOMBIA

The Colombian Ministry of Commerce presented on November 10 a draft decree to update the customs tariff. The initiative seeks to modify the tariff nomenclature to incorporate the Community nomenclature approved by the Andean Community countries. The draft will be open for comments until November 24, which should be sent through the e-mail [email protected].

The bill establishes changes to the tariff nomenclature for food products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics and cereals, among others. The member countries of the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) agreed on November 2 to incorporate into the Community nomenclature (NANDINA) of all products the description, nomenclature and notes of a latest amendment to the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS). These amendments shall take effect as of January 1, 2022.

According to the bill, Colombia must repeal Decree 2153/16 and update with the new nomenclature the customs computer system with the corresponding tariff charges and trade measures, as well as the tariff commitments of the Trade Agreements signed and the bases of the Foreign Trade Single Window used for the processing of import, national production and origin registrations and licenses.
