On October 28, the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, nominated economist Renato Dias de Brito Gomes as director of the Financial System Organization. It should be noted that the nominee must be judged by the Senate, which will decide whether he is fit to hold the position of director of Financial System Organization and Resolution of the Central Bank.

Renato Dias de Brito Gomes would replace João Manoel Pinho de Mello who finalizes his mandate on Dec 31, 2021.

Renato Dias de Brito Gomes holds a B.A. and M.A. from the Department of Economics at PUC-Rio and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University. He is a professor at the Toulouse School of Economics and a researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris.
