On September 12, the Primary, Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory elections (PASO in Spanish) were held in Argentina with the purpose of defining the candidates for the general legislative elections to be held on November 14. Frente de Todos (ruling party) lost in almost all the country. Its lists only won in 6 of the 24 provinces (Salta, Formosa, Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja and San Juan). A report prepared by Directorio Legislativo can be accessed by clicking here.

In terms of legislative projection, if the results of the PASO are transferred to the general elections, the ruling party would lose the quorum in the Senate and would see its strength in the Chamber of Deputies diminished.

In the Senate, Frente de Todos would lose 6 seats out of the 41 it currently holds. Thus, it would have two seats less than the 37 needed to form a quorum. In the Chamber of Deputies, it would lose between 5 and 10 seats out of the 121 seats it currently holds. Therefore, it would be even further away from the 129 deputies to establish the quorum.
