The World Health Organization (WHO) is setting up a multidisciplinary digital health technical group. On May 10 it published a call for nominations of experts in the field interested in joining this agency with a June 2 deadline for applications. The WHO expects the first meeting of the advisory group to take place in July.

Following the WHO’s restructuring process carried out in March, the recently-created Digital Health Department decided to create a working group to analyse the current global situation of digital health technologies and make recommendations to the Director-General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The organization thus hopes to meet Sustainable Development Goal 3 to promote health and well-being for citizens of all ages.

Applicants to join the roster of experts must have an outstanding record of achievement within their own field, as well as expertise in the development of national digital health programs and health legislation policies, biomedical innovation and health economics focusing on digital health, among other requirements. The list of members of the group will be made public by WHO once the call is closed and any possible conflicts of interest have been analyzed.
