A public institution issues a regulation on deposits insurance in companies specialized in electronic payments

The Board of Directors of the Guarantee Fund of Financial Institutions issued a resolution that regulates the Deposit Insurance applicable to Specialized Companies in Electronic Deposits and Payments (SEDPES)/.

The resolution indicates that the SEDPES that obtain the authorization from the Financial Superintendence of Colombia must register in the Fund of Guarantees of Financial Institutions, paying a single quota equivalent to 0.115 per thousand of the subscribed capital. In the case of the SEDPES that do not have the Electronic Service of the Bank of the Republic, they may use intermediaries.

Likewise, it establishes that the SEDPES must pay an annual premium for Deposit Insurance corresponding to 0.15% per annum of the amount of electronic deposits. The resolution establishes that 50 million Colombian pesos (u$s17.300) per person will be the maximum insured value for depositors of the SEDPES recognized by the Guarantee Fund.
