ARGENTINA

On November 16, the Budget and Finance Committee of Deputies, chaired by Carlos Heller (Frente de Todos – ruling party), approved the bill for a Special Bicameral Committee to draft the Consumers Protection Code of the Nation. The text is ready to be discussed in a session.

The approval of the bill was supported by the ruling party deputies, but rejected by the opposition.

The text aims to create a committee to draft a Consumer Code that complies with the principle of non-regression and public order, and builds a standard with a federal perspective. In addition, the text should favor and guarantee access to the entire population, especially the most vulnerable sectors, and establish the types of crimes and sanctions envisaged to punish illegal behavior.
