On October 13, the Deputies’ Budget and Finance Committee moved forward with the discussion of the 2021 Budget bill. On this occasion no presentations were made by officials and the legislators focused on debating the articles in the text. Committee chairman Carlos Heller (Frente de Todos – ruling party), indicated that the aim is to approve the initiative on Tuesday, October 20. “We need to have the budget approved before the end of November,” he said.
“This is an inclusive and comprehensive process which aims to improve the situation of those undergoing the most difficult experiences by increasing real income for the most vulnerable sectors by significantly investing in public works as a stimulus for employment and economic activity,” said Heller.
“The process is subject to contingencies that require analysis and an adequate response in the form of public policies. This is a good tool to envisage Argentina starting a process of economic recovery in 2021,” he said.
Among the points up for debate is the distribution of transport subsidies, at the request of members of the opposition and the government. In addition, both political forces expressed concern over the allocations for fire management given the large number of fires raging throughout the country, envisaging an amount equivalent to that allocated in 2019.
