Personal Data Bill to be Studied in Sovereignty and International Relations Committee
11 octubre 2019

On October 4, the Legislative Administration Council (CAL, for its acronym in Spanish) sent the Personal Data Bill, which is being backed by the Executive, to the Sovereignty and International Relations Committee, headed by Assemblyman Fernando Flores (CREO-SUMA – allies).

The Committee is responsible for receiving contributions and observations, to be included in a report and submitted to the Assembly for debate. Given the relevance that the issue has had in the media, the most likely scenario is that legislators will begin their examination sooner rather than later.

Thanks to its own representation and allied legislators on the Sovereignty and International Relations Committee, the ruling party Alianza Pais is likely to get the backing of 9 out of its 12 members, and thus is expected to be able to advance with the proposal.
