The Senate´s Public Security Committee met to move forward with a bill filed by the Executive to establish rules governing computer offenses, which repeals Law No. 19,223 and modifies certain legal bodies to bring them into line with the Budapest Convention (Exp. 12192-25). The Committee estimates that it needs to hold a further 3-4 sessions before issuing the final text. The senators will meet again tomorrow to continue discussing the initiative.
This bill incorporates seven new definitions of electronic offenses and their respective penalties, in relation to data interception, fraud and computer forgery.
