Personal Data Security Bill Passed to Committee Advisers
7 junio 2019

Advisers for the House Committee on Constitutional Affairs have been asked to review the Personal Data Security bill authored by Marcelo Wechsler (PRO – ruling party) which creates a communications chain of command in the event of security breaches when handling personal information databases.

Under the proposal, in the event of a security breach, the data controller must immediately notify those individuals whose data have been compromised, or otherwise face a warning, suspension and/or a fine of 25%-150% of the monthly value of the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salary.

Once the advisers have reviewed the bill, it will be returned to the Committee for a ruling. Meanwhile, pro-Kirchner opposition Deputy Maria Emilia Soria is calling for the existing Law 25.326 on Personal Data Protection to be modified as an alternative to creating a new law on the matter.
