Central Bank president nominates new director for the Board of Governors

On November 11, the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, announced the departure of the director of the Board of Governors, Fabio Kanczuk, at the end of his term on December 31, 2021. He also nominated Diogo Abry Guillén as his replacement, who must be ratified by the Senate.

Diogo Abry Guillén holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Department of Economics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and a PhD in economics from Princeton University. He is chief economist of Itaú Asset Management and a professor associated with the Insper Institute.

It should be noted that the Central Bank is managed by its Board of Governors, composed of different members, appointed by the President of the Republic and approved by the Senate.
