On July 13, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Simon Cueva, appointed Bernardo Orellana Heredia as Ecuador’s new Vice Minister of Finance. He replaces Diego Burneo, who resigned for health reasons. Orellana is already in office.
Bernardo Orellana holds a degree in Economics and Administrative Sciences from Universidad de las Américas. He also holds an MPA in Economic Management, specializing in Central Banking and Financial Markets, from Columbia University, and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Case Western Reserve University.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Undersecretary of Public Financing, as Integral Risk Manager and Treasury Manager at Produbanco. In addition, he was a director of several companies, and a university professor. “From the Vice Ministry of Finance we will work to achieve fiscal stabilization with equity and productive reactivation,” he said
