VENEZUELA

On November 16 the Executive branch announced that the country is to enter the stage of easing economic activities until November 22. The measure enables several economic sectors of the economy to operate during restricted hours, such as banking and transport services and supermarkets. Meanwhile, the government held a new mock election with a view to preparing for the December 6 legislative elections.

“December is around the corner and lots of people are now in the streets due to increased economic and commercial activity,” Maduro said. Over the course of this week, the banking sector may serve the public from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. It is worth remembering that the flexibilization scheme put in place by the Executive involves two successive seven-day stages with one stage implying seven days of lockdown and the other seven days of flexible commercial activities.

Meanwhile, National Electoral Council head Indira Alfonso explained that the new mock election had been “a complete success” adding that logistical and sanitary measures were put in place in order to take care of the well-being of voters.
