On October 22,  the Deputies Budget and Finance Committee, chaired by Carlos Heller (Frente de Todos – ruling party) decided to postpone until October 23 the approval in committee of the 2021 Budget Bill. The text is expected to be discussed in the House of Representatives next week.

The postponement was informed by Committee chairman Carlos Heller after the opposition requested more time to study the modifications made to the text. “Today we were shown a report that basically includes 40 new articles with several new topics and modifications, many of which had not been discussed,” said Deputy Luciano Laspina (Juntos por el Cambio – opposition).

After accepting the request, Heller indicated that Frente de Todos was in a position to approve the text in committee. “We have the votes. We are merely postponing it to give everyone more time to read, analyze and, if possible, join us in adopting the initiative,” he said.

One of the key modifications that came up during the meeting was the incorporation of a credit regime for provincial electricity distributors with no debt or only a reasonable level of debt
