On August 6, the President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, swore in his new Ministerial Cabinet, headed up by Prime Minister Walter Martos, who replaces Pedro Cateriano. Martos had previously served as Defense Minister. Vizcarra re-appointed the heads of the ministries of Economy and Finance, and Foreign Trade, and designated Javier Palacios as the new Minister of Labor.
Ministry of Economy and Finance
María Antonieta Alva was re-appointed in the position she has held since October 3, 2019. Alva has 7 years of experience in the public sector in programming, planning, monitoring and budget evaluation. She also has experience in monitoring and following up social policies.
Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion
For this ministry, the Executive branch appointed Javier Palacios, a lawyer who graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP, in Spanish). He has over 23 years of experience in the public and private sectors, and worked in the implementation and management of projects related to education, work, employment and job training sectors. Until this appointment, Palacios had been serving as Vice Minister of Employment Promotion and Job Training.
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism
Vizcarra re-appointed Rocío Barrios as minister,a lawyer who graduated from the University of San Martín de Porres. She has a postgraduate degree in Finance and Business Law from the Higher School of Administration and Business (ESAN, in Spanish) and a Master’s degree in Public Management. Barrios was part of the Ministry of the Economy, the Radio and Television Institute and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

- Ministry of Culture: Vizcarra re-appointed Alejandro Neyra Sánchez, who has been part of the ministry since May 2020
- Ministry of Environment: The president re-appointed attorney Kirla Echegaray Alfaro as minister
- Ministry of Health: Vizcarra appointed Pular Mazzetti as Minister of Health
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Mario Juvenal López Chávarry is the minister of this entity
