On July 29, Colombian President Ivan Duque issued Decree 1076 extending the nationwide lockdown through August 30, 2020. Businesses will be able to continue operating  in sectors such as food and medication production, financial, logistics and messaging services and the provision of telecommunications services. The measures also authorize the reactivation of new activities in municipalities with few COVID-19 cases. The regulation is already in force.

This regulation lifts the compulsory lockdown measures in the least affected regions, subject to prior authorization by the Ministry of Health. It contemplates the opening of drive-in movie theaters and restaurants in municipalities with no or few COVID-19 cases, as well as allowing social and commercial activities such as religious services and hairdressing salons.

In addition, it authorizes the implementation of a scheme of alternation between on-site and virtual classes at all levels of the education system under the strict supervision of governors and mayors. Finally, it allows municipalities with few cases of infection to submit pilot plans for the reopening of bars and casinos. However, it extends the suspension of domestic flights and the closure of sea, land and river border crossings with the Republics of Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela through September 1, 2020.
