On June 12, the Executive branch enacted Law No. 14,010, which postpones the application of fines and penalties under the General Data Protection Law (LGPD, for its acronym in Portuguese) until August 1, 2021.

The measure amends existing regulations to create a special legal regime in force throughout the pandemic. As for the LGPD, the entry into force of articles 52, 53 and 54 of the Personal Data Law concerning the application of penalties due to non-compliance has been postponed until August 1, 2021.
