Vizcarra Announces Extension of State of Emergency Until June 30

On May 22, the Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra announced the extension of the State of Emergency until June 30, explaining that this includes the resumption of various economic activities, such as delivery services and those using electronic commerce applications. 

As part of the gradual opening of activities, Vizcarra said that delivery services using apps would be resumed as of Monday, May 25, although these companies would have to request an authorization before resuming their operations. The decree also contemplates the resumption of other activities, such as medical services, gasfitters, electricians, and hairdressers, among others.

As for e-commerce, the president explained that these services now included household appliances and utilities, and added “stores will not open”, but deliveries could be made to facilitate the daily lives of Peruvians.”
