On May 11, the Executive Branch issued Decree No. 1508 setting up the National Government Program to Guarantee the Loan Portfolio of Companies in the Financial System. The measure aims to help these companies improve their response to the greater overall demand for liquidity. 

The decree establishes that companies in the financial system may only resort to the government guarantee under the Program to implement credit portfolio reporting operations with the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will grant 7 billion soles (approximately US$ 2.045 billion) in the form of a guarantee to cover the loan portfolio of these companies.

The National Government Guarantee Program will be channelled through a trust, and/or a trust commission or another instrument of a similar nature.
