The Executive Branch issued DNU No. 355/2020, extending the preventive and compulsory social isolation period until April 26 and authorizing the provincial governors to submit a plan to ease the quarantine in their respective territories. The government also issued Administrative Decision No. 490/2020 listing the activities exempted from quarantine. These include banks (admitting customers on a pre-reserved shift system), automobile repair shops, and allowing persons with disabilities and their carers to take walks, among others. President Alberto Fernández explained that they will evaluate the situation ensuing after the latest deadline given and decide on the next steps.

During a conference, he also said that the terms will be the same as those implemented to date, based on the preventive and obligatory social isolation. He also explained that after the deadline is met, the government will evaluate the situation and decide on the next steps to be taken.

However, he said that after talking to the governors, it was decided that in some smaller districts of the provinces, the quarantine could be partially lifted. “We are going to enter a managed quarantine,” he said. This will be coordinated in the coming days.

Finally, he stressed that starting on Monday, the banks will be opened, with a schedule of shifts and respect for the social distancing protocols.
