Congress Suspended Due to Coronavirus: Knowledge Economy Bill Postponed
27 marzo 2020

ARGENTINA

Congress suspended its activities on March 18 due to the COVID-19 situation in Argentina, and the Chamber of Deputies has said it will only meet if President Alberto Fernández calls an emergency session related to the pandemic. Deputies can meet virtually if they decide to hold a committee meeting. Access the document here.

That week, Deputies had originally planned to work on the Knowledge Economy Law reform, proposed by the Executive. However, the issue is now postponed to when Congress reconvenes. The Frente de Todos coalition is keen for the reform to be a top priority and fast-track its review through ‘express votes’ in both chambers.

The Senate has also said it will only meet at the request of the Executive branch, and if any meetings with officials are necessary, these will be held by video conference. All committee related work will also be carried out remotely. Access the document here.
