Official Gazette: Solidarity Law Regulations on Asset Repatriation Updated

On January 30, the Executive branch, through Decree 16/2020, updated the regulations included in the Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation Law, establishing exceptions for personal assets applicable to companies or individuals bringing foreign goods into the country. The measure includes details as to how these provisions will be applied – access the original regulation here

In order to encourage the entry of goods, “funds may be allocated, after repatriation, to certain destinations, situations wherein benefits will be maintained, inasmuch as the conditions set for each case are met.”

The measure adds that “the funds may be deposited in both savings and current accounts, or in fixed term accounts, among other accounting methods.”

Also on January 30, President Alberto Fernández, by Decree 113/2020, appointed attorney Mariana Noemí Quevedo as vice president of the Financial Information Unit (UIF, for its acronym in Spanish).
