Colombia
24 enero 2020

The Central Bank published an external circular modifying the procedures for channelling foreign currency and registering international investments, as well as the information to be reported to this bank. Among the operations mentioned are the substitution and cancellation of portfolio investment and the registration of portfolio investment with foreign currency channelling. The regulation is already in force.

Below are the most relevant points modified by the circular:

  • Portfolio investment registry with foreign currency channeling. The return, profits, yields and dividends of the portfolio investment shall be channelled by the portfolio investment manager with the provision of minimum data for exchange operations for international investments.
  • Substitution and cancellation of the portfolio investment. Changes in the ownership or composition of the portfolio investment and cancellations must be reported with the “Foreign Capital Investment Statistical Report of 1 Portfolio in Colombia – IPEXT” to be submitted monthly to the Bank.
  • Addition of payments from derivative operations to the Registry of Supplementary Investment to the Assigned Capital and Updating of Equity Accounts. These are defined as foreign exchange payments made from the matrix’s foreign accounts for the concept of derivative operations, recorded during the year as a supplementary investment to the assigned capital.
