Tax Modernization Bill Passed to Mixed Committee
Chile
24 enero 2020

On January 22, the Chamber of Deputies sent the Tax Modernization bill to the Mixed Committee. Although the deputies approved most of the modifications coming from the Senate, they did not ratify the text on the process of challenging the collection of the green tax from fixed polluting sources. The Mixed Committee will have to discuss this point on January 28.

During the session, representatives of different political parties expressed their opinion about the Executive’s bill and voted on the reform later in the afternoon. Thus, almost the entire bill was approved, with the exception of an article related to the green tax on fixed sources of pollution.

Now the Mixed Committee, made up of deputies and senators, will have to reach an agreement regarding the differences between both Chambers. This committee will be made up of the following deputies:

  • Manuel Monsalve Benavides
  • Daniel Núñez Arancibia
  • José Miguel Ortiz Novoa
  • Leopoldo Perez Lahsen
  • Guillermo Ramirez Diez
