On December 19, Argentine President, Alberto Fernández, included the agreements to appoint Central Bank (BCRA, for its acronym in Spanish) authorities in the legislative agenda of extraordinary sessions, by Decree 46/2019. The extraordinary sessions will last until December 31, 2019. Although not yet approved by the Senate, the President appointed Zenón Alberto Biagosch, Claudio Martín Golonbek, Claudia Berger and Betina Susana Stein as directors of the Central Bank (Decree 43/2019), lawyer Marcos Eduardo Moiseeff as head trustee of the BCRA (Decree 42/2019), and, accountant Waldo José María Farías as assistant trustee of the same entity (Decree 41/2019).

Both the head trustee and the deputy trustee of the BCRA have the task of “supervising the entity’s observance of the provisions contained in the Organic Charter and other applicable regulations, as well as of informing the Board of Directors, the Executive Branch and the Honorable Congress of the Nation of the observance thereof”.

Economists Eduardo Hecker and Matías Tombolini were appointed as president and vice-president, respectively, of the Argentine National Bank.
