The Senate Constitution Committee completed its analysis of the indications made in the context of the Personal Data bill (Exp. 11144) on October 14. Catherine Tornel, the Capital Markets coordinator, was once again present at the meeting to explain the position of the Executive Branch regarding the different indications as the discussion progressed. The bill has virtually been dispatched, and only a final review is required before it goes to the Finance Committee and from there to the Chamber.

During the session, the senators debated the new structure of the Council for Transparency, which according to the stipulations, should include at least two advisors specializing in personal data. Likewise, the modifications corresponding to bill 20285 on access to public information were agreed, taking into account the Council’s new functions.

It should be noted that the Committee had already made its position clear last week in the debate on the enforcement authority, as legislators agreed that the Council for Transparency should be the body responsible for ensuring the effective exercise and enforcement of the rights enshrined in the Personal Data bill. They also defined that these new faculties should be incorporated into the Council’s current mandate.
