Vizcarra Swears in New Cabinet of Ministers
Peru
11 octubre 2019

On October 3, the new Ministerial Cabinet, headed by Premier Vicente Zeballos, was sworn in before Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra, after all 18 ministers submitted their resignation letters last Monday in the wake of Congress rejecting the vote of confidence introduced by the Executive earlier that day.

With eight new members, the ministerial posts of interest for this sector that were modified are the following:

  • Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF): economist Maria Antonieta Alva was formerly the MEF’s Budget Director General and worked for seven years in the public sector, in areas such as budget programming, planning, monitoring and evaluation. In addition, she has experience in social policy monitoring and follow-up.
  • Ministry of Transport and Communications: engineer Edmer Trujillo returns to this ministry, as he held office until April 2019, when he submitted his resignation after Congress questioned his authority.

The Ministries of Health, Labour and Production did not suffer any changes in their portfolios or in their members.
