On December 30, the Executive Branch published in the Official Gazette a notice of public call by the National Film Agency (ANCINE in Portuguese) for the submission of proposals for Brazilian cinematographic works to be financed by the Audiovisual Sector Fund. The resolution can be accessed by clicking here. The call for proposals can be accessed through the following link from January 31, 2022 until March 31 of the same year.
The selection process will be divided into three phases, one of qualification of the proposals, of an eliminatory nature, and two stages of qualifying analysis, the first with objective scoring (producer, director, distributor) and the second carried out by a Joint Selection Committee, between ANCINE employees and professionals of the audiovisual sector.
The public call notice aims at the selection of proposals for the independent production of Brazilian cinematographic works of fiction, documentaries and animated feature films initially intended for the theatrical market, submitted by independent Brazilian producers, to supplement the production project budget. and investment in its commercialization.
Legal framework:
It should be noted that the Audiovisual Sector Fund (FSA in Portuguese) is a fund aimed at the articulated development of the entire productive chain of the audiovisual activity in Brazil. Created by Law 11.437, in 2006, and regulated by Decree 6.299, in 2007, it is a specific category of the National Culture Fund (FNC in Portuguese).
The FSA includes activities associated with the different segments of the production chain of the production, distribution, commercialization, exhibition and service infrastructure sector, through the use of different financial instruments, such as investments, financing, support operations and equalization of financial burdens to encourage the national audiovisual sector.
In addition, a total amount of R$651.2 million (approximately US$114 million) has been approved so far to stimulate the resumption of economic activity in the post-pandemic context.
