MEXICO

On November 11, the Secretariat of Economy (SE), through the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (CONAMER in Spanish), opened a public consultation regarding rules applicable to foreign trade. The text seeks to update and comprehensively include the various modifications that have been made in the sector, in order to unify in a single text the criteria and rules that economic agents must observe. The consultation will remain open until at least December 9, and interested parties may send their comments through the following link. Also, the SE, through its Productive Development Unit, signed an agreement with Microsoft Mexico to promote the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

The draft bill specifies the information that private companies must submit to the SE in order to be able to carry out foreign trade procedures. In this regard, it mentions that in order to certify the address, the private companies will have to provide the government authority with documentation proving the payment of the property tax, electricity, telephone or water, as well as the proof of address issued by the corresponding local government, among other relevant information. At the same time, it provides that those interested in carrying out foreign trade procedures before the SE, through the Digital Window, must register in the portal that can be found in the following link.

On the other hand, the SE signed an agreement with Microsoft Mexico with the purpose of promoting the development of MSMEs, mainly focused on two axes. On the one hand, they intend to link training platforms for the development of digital and business skills; and on the other hand, to develop training programs to strengthen them. At the same time, the agreement specifies that technological tools will be available to entrepreneurs free of charge for a certain period of time so that they can manage and promote their businesses.
