On October 19, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa (Frente de Todos – ruling party), highlighted the importance of advancing in the digitalization of the healthcare system. In particular, he considered that Congress should work “on modern legislation that adapts healthcare systems to the digital era, technology, applied science and the 21st century”.

In the framework of the conference “Present and future of digitalization in healthcare. New legislative perspectives”, held in Congress, Massa warned that “technology, the digital era, is changing the paradigms of healthcare”. Consequently, he proposed to address “seriously the new technologies, from the digital medical record to vaccination information”, considering that these are issues that “have a legislative vacancy”.

Meanwhile, the president of the Senate Health Committee, Mario Fiad (UCR – Opposition), referred to the bill he presented on digital health and pointed out some regulatory challenges, among these: artificial intelligence, genomics and precision medicine. “I think we should rethink the creation of a Digital Health Agency because the possibilities are unpredictable and we must rise to the challenges,” he concluded.
