COLOMBIA

On September 29, the Regulatory Projection and Financial Regulation Studies Unit (URF in Spanish) published a draft that details the topics that will make up the agency’s regulatory agenda and work plan for the year 2022. The proposal will be available for public comment until October 29 through [email protected] y [email protected]

The work fronts proposed in the document are the promotion of the efficient transformation of savings and investment, the promotion of financial inclusion, the consolidation of financial security and stability, the promotion of access to the payment system and the strengthening of the institutional framework. In addition, the draft contemplates the regulation of Bill 413 of 2021, currently under discussion in the Colombian Congress, with which the URF seeks to promote an agenda aimed at expanding the digital payments ecosystem in the country.

The organization will seek to continue working to promote universal, efficient and secure access to the payment system through the development of diagnostics on electronic transfers, the different operating models and decentralized technologies under which their development is being promoted internationally. With this diagnosis, the URF will propose policy or regulatory initiatives to achieve a greater degree of access, use and interoperability of such technologies. In addition, the roadmap for the new single payments authority will be proposed, which will have an integral, systematic and comprehensive vision of the payments ecosystem.
