MEXICO

On June 14, Senator Ricardo Monreal (Morena – ruling party) announced the priority agenda of the ruling party to be dealt with in the Chamber of Senators, starting with the opening of the ordinary sessions of the 65th Legislature on September 1. Among the regulations that the party will seek to promote are reforms on personal data and changes in the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF, in Spanish). Likewise, the senator assured that his space will promote the necessary “bridges” for the promotion of the necessary initiatives to improve the situation of the Mexican population.

Although the document does not specify which texts will be used as a basis, among the issues highlighted in MORENA’s agenda are:

  • Reforms in the area of personal data protection.
  • Amendments to various laws to strengthen the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF)

At the meeting for the presentation of the document, the senator declared that the ruling party, together with its allies, is willing to “build the necessary bridges of dialogue and consensus in the Chambers of Congress, to guarantee that the legal scaffolding of the new stage of the country’s public life continues to consolidate”.
