On June 10, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE in Spanish) finalized the processing of 100% of the electoral records from the second round of elections of June 6. With 100% of the processed reports, Pedro Castillo (Peru Libre) was elected as the new president of Peru for the period 2021-2026. Castillo won with 50.10% of the votes, while Keiko Fujimori of Fuerza Popular obtained 49.80%. The ONPE is expected to proclaim the official results in the next few days.

Although the first publication of results by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) showed Keiko Fujimori as the winner with more than 6% of difference, as the votes from the countryside, the Amazon and abroad came in, the distance with Pedro Castillo decreased until the result was turned around. However, due to the tight margin of difference, both candidates decided to wait for the official results.

It is worth mentioning that it only remains to resolve the situation of the electoral records qualified as observed, due to material error, incompleteness, lack of data, contested votes and other circumstances. These must be analyzed by the Special Electoral Juries (JEE, in Spanish), in order to reach 100% of the tallied tally sheets, that is to say, all those whose votes have been counted. Once this process is completed, the winner of the ballotage may be declared.
