The Executive Branch will promote a bill to postpone the primary and general elections for one month

On April 8 a meeting between the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo De Pedro, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa (Frente de Todos), and the opposition deputies Mario Negri (UCR), Cristian Ritondo (PRO) and Juan Manuel López (Coalición Cívica) was held. Within the framework of this meeting, De Pedro stated that the Executive Branch will promote the postponement of the legislative elections for one month. The objective of the Executive Branch is for the primary elections to be held on September 12 and for the general elections to be held on November 14. In order to support these dispositions, the government will start working with Congress representatives in the elaboration of a bill to modify the current electoral calendar.

De Pedro stated: “This is what the President has instructed. To start a dialogue, try to reach a consensus, and look for the best way to solve an electoral process in the pandemic”.
