Executive branch extends State of National Emergency until March 31

On February 28, the President of Peru, Francisco Sagasti, via Supreme Decree No. 036-2021-PCM, extended the National State Emergency until March 31. The norm establishes the mandatory social immobilization of the provinces or departments that are at the alert level until March 14. Meanwhile, the curfew will begin at 9 p.m. and end at 4 a.m.; for the first two Sundays of the month of March (March 7 and 14), the compulsory social immobilization will apply throughout the day. The measures in place are already in effect. 

The decree indicates that the economic activities of the 4 alert levels, transactions will be able to be carried out by virtual means, home deliveries and pick-up in the case of restaurants, at the established times. Commercial establishments must close two hours before the start of the mandatory social immobilization. In addition, non-essential activities will apply as established in the phases regarding the resumption of current economic activities.

For their part, supply stores such as supermarkets, markets, warehouses, and pharmacies will continue to operate with a maximum capacity of 40%. Meanwhile, casinos, cinemas and theaters will remain closed in order to reduce the spread of the virus
