ARGENTINA

The Ministry of Health on May 31 adopted Resolution 405/2019, to modify the structure of the Drugs Bank Coordination and the Department for Direct Assistance for Special Situations. The aim is to be more effective when it comes to acquiring, storing, distributing and dispensing medicines and biomedical technology. Work will also continue in the next two months to broaden the scope of the Vademecum to include new oncological and non-oncological drugs.

The new regulation requires the Drugs and Health Technology Department to take the measures necessary to expand the register before its approval by the Ministry of Health, and also modifies key names and functions. The Drug Bank Coordination will now be called the Special Drugs Bank Coordination, while the Directorate of Direct Assistance for Special Situations will become the Directorate of Compensatory Health Coverage.

The modifications are part of the push to achieve the efficient integration of the National Health System and promote equitable access.
