The Executive published Decree 332/2019 which increases statistics duties by 2% in the Official Gazette on May 6. The increase in import duties comes into effect immediately and will be in force until the end of the year.

The regulation raises statistics duties from 0.5% to 2.5% for all imports destined for local use. At the same time, it introduces a maximum ceiling for the rate which may not exceed a certain amount according to the value of the imported goods.

The decree stipulates that for operations under US$ 10,000, statistical duties may not exceed US$ 150, while imports between US$ 10,000 and US$ 100,000 will have to pay a maximum of US$ 2,500. The Annex to the decree provides full details of the amount of the statistics duties according to the amount of each import.
