The World Health Organization (WHO) is conducting a public consultation on a draft Global Digital Health Strategy 2020-2024. This aims to identify areas on which WHO and its partners should focus to enhance the use of digital technologies in improving public health. In turn, this ties in with WHO’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. The deadline for submissions and comments is April 30.

The consultative document outlines four strategic objectives. The first is “engaging stakeholders in a shared global e-Health agenda”, the second “building and consolidating a global e-Health capacity that reflects national needs”. The WHO further seeks to extend commitment to digital health to all countries. Related to this, the last objective is to improve measurement, monitoring, research and practice in the field of digital health.

The target audience for this consultation are stakeholders in the field of e-Health, who can submit their feedback by the indicated date. Meanwhile, the text also sets out a Framework for Action that aims to boost the implementation of the Global Strategy and promote e-Health in developing countries.
