Peru strengthens strategies against tax evasion

On October 9th, the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) announced that it was admitted to join the Aggressive Tax Planning Experts’ Group of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Through the exchange of information promoted by this group, Peru will have access to new detection methods and response strategies against tax avoidance and evasion as of 2019.

 

As a member of this group, SUNAT will have access to the  Aggressive Tax Planning Directory (ATP Directory), which provides knowledge of the latest trends in aggressive tax planning and helps to understand the new modalities of tax avoidance and evasion in the world. On this point, Palmer de la Cruz Pineda, the national mayor of Strategies and Risks of the Sunat, said in this way “the country strengthens its capacity to detect and control tax non-compliance, by allowing the Sunat to enhance its ability to identify risk.

 

As of Sunat’s accession to this Board, and in accordance with OECD guidelines, it is expected that by 2019 Peru will make significant progress in controlling tax risks through the incorporation of new strategies aimed at reducing tax evasion.
