The legislative blocs of the Chamber of Deputies are negotiating the reform to the Capital Markets law. Therefore, the bill (Expte. N ° 0019-PE-2017) will be debated next Wednesday, April 25th. It had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies, but was modified by the Senate; now, the deputies will accept the modifications proposed by the Senate. The initiative modifies the legal framework to strengthen the National Securities’ Commission and facilitate the entry of new financial entities into the Argentine market.

The bill has been endorsed by Cambiemos, Argentina Federal and the Frente Renovador parties. The only large bloc that would reject the bill is Kirchner’s FPV bloc. However, FPV does not have the number of seats needed to prevent the bill’s approval.

It should be noted that the bill had the consent of all the blocs to be begin its debate last Wednesday 18th. However, the opposition parties convened a floor’s meeting for the same day to prevent the increase in basic services’ fees proposed by the Executive Branch. This led the debate on the Capital Markets Law postponed until April 25th.
