Pharmacists from 22 countries will meet from Saturday, October 28th through Tuesday, October 31st in the Peruvian capital for the Third International Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The event coincides in time and place with the nineteenth edition of the Congress of the South American Pharmaceutical Federation (Federación Farmacéutica Sudamericana or FEFAS), and will seek to jointly analyze scientific and technological advances within the industry and foster professional international dialogue.

Among those present will be the Pharmaceutical Chemistry College of Peru (Colegio Químico Farmacéutico del Perú), together with representatives – specialists in the field – from all over America (including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, among others). Spain will be the only participating country that is not from the American continent. The goal of the event is for the countries to share their academic experiences in the same manner as the World Health Organization (WHO).

The FEFAS meeting will seek to integrate the pharmaceutical work that is carried out in the Americas, addressing topics such as level of care, quality control, industry developments, medical devices, and innovative pharmacological therapies, as well as the sector regulations and policies in effect. The various types of pharmacy (clinic, hospital, and community), food, natural products, toxicology, and education on the subject will also be a part of the discussion.

Amelia Villar, dean of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry College of Peru, pointed to the event as an opportunity to catch up on advances in the industry at the international level. She stated that there will also be courses available for younger specialists to benefit from connecting with international figures in the field, including more than 50 speakers and a total of 21 spaces, spanning symposiums, plenary sessions, cultural activities, and research presentations.
